Miami Fourth Estate

Miami Fourth Estate is a nonprofit, nonpartisan hyperlocal news organization focused on bringing strong news coverage to Miami’s neighborhoods and 34 municipalities. Our mission is to make sure that residents of every town get the information they need about local government, the environment, business, education and other pressing community issues and solutions. We also believe in developing the next generation of journalists and are partners with local educational institutions.

The Public’s Radio

The Public's Radio covers Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts, focusing on local enterprise and investigative journalism. Our newsroom seeks to provide reporting that is focused more on depth than breaking news, offering analysis and perspective on stories we report as well as other news in the region.

Traverse City Record-Eagle

The Traverse City Record-Eagle is northern Michigan's largest news outlet, operating print and digital publications, including a daily print edition, a quarterly magazine and two podcasts. The Record-Eagle has a strong history of strong watchdog reporting complemented by artful narrative writing. Our newsroom is situated in downtown Traverse City, but serves a five-county core coverage area as well as broad, growing sections of news desert in northern Michigan.

WHQR Public Media

WHQR is a publicly funded nonprofit radio newsroom serving the Cape Fear Region of North Carolina. As WHQR's newsroom, we are dedicated to fair, in-depth, investigative journalism aimed at holding local government accountable. While our radio waves extend beyond the county we’re housed in, our coverage historically has not gone as far out into rural areas. We aim to change that, and bring our caliber of watchdog coverage to government agencies in surrounding counties.

Northern Public Radio – WNIJ

Northern Public Radio, a member station of NPR, has a mission to enrich, inspire and inform listeners in northern Illinois through programs and services that share ideas, encourage thought, entertain and create community.

WPSU

WPSU is the public radio station providing NPR and local news to 13 counties in central and northern Pennsylvania. Our signal reaches about 450,000 people in small cities and towns, and through our partnerships with other public radio stations our stories often reach all of Pennsylvania. Our mission is to “spark discovery, enrich learning and strengthen community through vibrant public media.” WPSU is licensed to Penn State University, in State College.

Adirondack Explorer/North Country Public Radio

The Adirondack Explorer was founded in 1998 as a watchdog for the Adirondack Park region of Northern New York. The Park is a blend of private and public lands, with 103 towns and villages. The Explorer focuses on environmental and economic issues and the sustainability of this public park/community model. North Country Public Radio is an NPR member station founded in 1968 serving northern New York and Vermont, including the Adirondack Park. NCPR is a rural news service that seeks to tell the stories and improve the lives of people who are often overlooked by other news outlets.

Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette is a statewide family owned news organization based in Little Rock, the state Capitol. We have a strong commitment to providing unbiased, in-depth articles to readers of both our digital replica editions and our website. We believe in using the Freedom of Information Act to get the information that tells readers how their government is run.

Blue Ridge Public Radio (BPR)

Blue Ridge Public Radio exists to provide Western North Carolinians with a deeper understanding of one another and the world, by being an essential, independent source of news and cultural content. The most-listened to radio station in the Asheville, NC market, Blue Ridge Public Radio is the NPR affiliate for the region. We provide public media service to 650,000 people through digital platforms and two radio stations–BPR News and BPR Classic–across a 13-county region in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Dallas Free Press

Dallas Free Press, a nonprofit news site, launched in January 2020 with the mission of amplifying voices and exploring solutions to the city’s systemic inequities. It focuses community journalism efforts on three zip codes in South Dallas and West Dallas, which are predominantly Black and Latino neighborhoods, respectively.
