The IndyStar’s mission is to expose what’s right and wrong, to shine a spotlight on the unique and special people and places that make Indy special and to look for solutions. With a newsroom staff of about 80, we are the largest news organization in the state and work with roughly 10 other sites as part of our Network including Bloomington, South Bend, Evansville, Henderson and Richmond and Lafayette. The IndyStar is the third largest news organization within USA Today Network not including USA Today.

Beat: Education, health and business issues and gaps in African-American and Latino communities

Position:

This corps member covers racial justice and equity with an emphasis on Central Indiana's Black and brown communities as part of a larger effort to spotlight diverse stories. This reporter focuses on people-oriented storytelling and data-driven reporting, particularly as it pertains to education, health and business. The reporter is part of a larger team tasked with covering social inequity in social services, immigration, cultural institutions, the legal system and access to health care. This person needs to become IndyStar’s ambassador to these communities, building trust and presence.
