MLK50: Justice Through Journalism

MLK50: Justice Through Journalism is an award-winning nonprofit digital newsroom, and focused on the intersection of poverty, power and policy. Its vision echoes Dr. Martin Luther King’s dream: a nation where all residents, especially workers, have enough resources to thrive, and where public and private policy supports their success.

Santa Fe New Mexican

The Santa Fe New Mexican is one of the oldest newspapers in the West; an aggressive outfit that covers Santa Fe and much of Northern New Mexico. We work to report the news deeply and compellingly, understanding that we are a community resource in a place where past, present and future collide every day. We look for immediacy and depth and impact every day, and we demand much of ourselves because our community expects first-rate journalism.

NJ Spotlight News

NJ Spotlight News is a pioneering partnership between NJ Spotlight’s digital newsroom and NJ PBS, New Jersey's public television network. As the largest nonprofit newsroom dedicated to the state of New Jersey, NJ Spotlight News covers important issues in education, health care, public policy, politics and the environment on multiple platforms: traditional broadcast, digital reporting, social media content and live journalism roundtables.

The Oregonian/OregonLive

The Oregonian is the oldest continuously operating business in the state, and among the most highly recognized news organizations in the U.S. It knows how to find important stories and how to engage readers, and since 2013, it has married its long tradition of high-impact print journalism with the dynamism of a digital-first approach to public service reporting, complete with data journalism, video storytelling and other immersive elements on OregonLive. This news organization has earned eight Pulitzer Prizes, including the Gold Medal for public service, the highest accolade in journalism.

WOUB Public Media

WOUB Public Media is a NPR and PBS affiliate licensed to Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. WOUB serves 55 counties throughout Appalachian southeastern Ohio, western West Virginia and eastern Kentucky with its broadcast signals. By developing partnerships to expand news coverage, thinking outside the box and deepening the conversation, WOUB is providing diverse content to listeners and viewers across the region.

Detroit Free Press

The Detroit Free Press news site, and a paper published three days a week, aims for consistent revelatory enterprise that enlightens and mobilizes readers. During the last five years, it has introduced several initiatives aiming to strengthen democracy, hold more public officials accountable and build trust with audiences who haven't received the attention they deserve from local media.This news organization has earned 10 Pulitzer Prizes.

Green Bay Press-Gazette

The Green Bay Press Gazette news site and daily paper is the area's primary source of local news and focuses on delivering original, local coverage essential for a healthy community and democracy. The Press Gazette is part of the USA Today Network, which has 11 newspapers in Wisconsin covering local news and working together on broader stories that are important to readers in every corner of Wisconsin.
